FAQ

What is a fanzine?A collection or anthology of art, written, and/or merch pieces made by fans that are organized and published for the fandom to contribute and celebrate the original content -- in this case, the video game Darkest Dungeon.~

What will be featured in this fanzine? This zine will center around the characters and themes of Red Hook's video game Darkest Dungeon. That will include but is not limited to heroes, backstories, NPCs, villains/enemies, and original characters.~

Will there be a physical or digital zine? Will there be merch? There will be both a physical printed copy with merch and a digital zine available. As of right now, we plan to have 100 physical copies made.~

Is this zine SFW?The intended age range for this zine is 16+, and while the content itself is considered SFW, the nature of Darkest Dungeon is rife with adult, dark, and dubious themes that will be reflected in the fan-creations.~

Is this zine for-profit?No, this zine is considered a charity zine and all proceeds will go towards the World Federation for Mental Health. Content creators will be compensated with a printed copy of the zine along with merch.~

How many contributors are involved?
At this time, we have approximately 20-25 artists contributing 1-2 artworks and 10-12 fic or poem writers, but this may be subject to change.
~

How many pages will this zine have?
Our current estimate is 100 pages (50 pages front and back) in the style of an artbook. Artists will be given the option to work in a single page, or do a spread. The orientation will be portrait style, but landscape compositions will be accepted as long as the artist understands that the final product will be flipped. Writers will have an approximate word limit of 5k.
~

Can I use pre-existing work?
Unfortunately not. The work featured in the zine will have to be made for the zine, during the creation process. We ask that you refrain from sharing the artwork/fic until after the zine is published.
~

How will communication be carried out?
Updates and announcements will be sent through the email provided on the sign-up sheet and also through Discord if the contributor prefers. Having a Discord account is not compulsory for the zine, but it is recommended.
~

Will characters or themes be assigned?
No, characters will not be assigned to contributors, but all applicants are encouraged to pitch several ideas during their application that include multiple (and varying) ideas, so that a wide range of characters can be featured throughout the zine.
